The Color of Hibiscus: Natural Dyes Workshop
Oct 03, 2026
From: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
Hibiscus flowers become a source of color and pattern in a hands-on natural dyeing workshop at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. Held Saturday, October 3, the session is led by textile artist Isabel Infante and guides participants through plant-based dyeing, tie-dye and shibori techniques while creating a 100% silk scarf.
Infante’s practice centers on natural fibers, botanical dyes and the relationship between textiles, nature and cultural knowledge. During the workshop, participants will explore how hibiscus can produce a range of tones and use resist techniques to shape pattern and variation across the fabric.
No previous textile or dyeing experience is required. Materials are included, and participants should wear comfortable clothing suitable for hands-on work. The workshop is open to ages 16 and older, with minors accompanied by an adult.
