THE GRAY: A Celebration of Human Complexity
Oct 24, 2026
Two shows: 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM
Miami dancer and choreographer Randolph Ward brings a solo dance-theater work on identity, vulnerability and self-perception to the Sandrell Rivers Theater. THE GRAY: A Celebration of Human Complexity premieres Saturday, October 24, with performances at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Presented by RTWDANCE, the one-hour production is followed by UNMASKED, a post-performance conversation with Ward.
Created and performed by Ward, the work uses contemporary dance, original poetry, film, theatrical movement and emotionally charged imagery to examine the contradictions people carry and the masks they use to navigate the world. The production includes sections such as “The Dance of the Ego,” “The Monster I Keep” and “This Is Me,” with themes spanning identity, fear, masculinity, femininity, queerness, visibility and personal transformation.
A centerpiece of the performance is BROKEN, a 10-minute dance-film adaptation of Ward’s original poem, written and recited by the choreographer. The production also includes artistic nudity presented in a theatrical, nonsexual context. Admission is limited to audiences ages 18 and older due to mature themes, strong language and emotionally charged material.
The performance is supported by the CAP@SRT Residency at Fantasy Theatre Factory, with support from The Jorge M. Pérez Family Foundation at The Miami Foundation.
