The Music of Julio Roloff
Sep 26, 2026
From: 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Acoustic instruments, electroacoustic sound and computer music converge in a rare program devoted to the work of Miami-based composer Julio Roloff. The Music of Julio Roloff takes place Saturday, September 26 at the Deering Estate Theater in Palmetto Bay. The free program is part of Subtropics: Audible Fields at Deering Estate, a five-part series curated by composer and intermedia artist Gustavo Matamoros that foregrounds listening as an active, perceptual experience.
Roloff’s work spans acoustic, electroacoustic and computer music, with an emphasis on structure, timbre and sonic transformation across different performance contexts. For this program, Roloff performs alongside guest musicians including flutist Ana Roloff, trumpeter Stuart King, violinist Alfredo Triff and Gustavo Matamoros.
The presentation continues the series’ focus on experimental music, spatial sound and expanded modes of listening. Presented in the Deering Estate Theater, recently enhanced with updated projection, lighting and surround sound capabilities, the program offers audiences a focused encounter with Roloff’s approach to composition, sound texture and live performance.
