Una Noche con César Pérez

Experience an evening of literary exploration as a celebrated Cuban author presents his debut work examining Miami's Cuban community. Una Noche con César Pérez takes place Friday, June 13 at Books & Books, presented in collaboration with FIU's Cuban Research Institute.

During this free event, poet, playwright and translator César Pérez will discuss his first book La capital del sol (Bokeh, $18.60), which offers a nuanced portrayal of contemporary Cuban Miami. The novel examines the evolution of exiled identities and poses questions about life's meaning beyond material success, reconciling with the past and the justification of one's actions. Pérez, who studied journalism at the University of Havana before earning master's degrees from the University of Iowa and Harvard University, brings his background in Hispanic literature to bear on this examination of Cuban-American life. Admission is complimentary and books will be available for purchase at the venue.
