Comedians Florencia Rizzo and Michelle Dernersissian turn motherhood, migration and midlife into material for a Spanish-language stand-up show at Sala Catarsis in Coral Gables. Voy a Comprar Leche: Ya Vengo! premieres Thursday, September 17, before the duo takes the production on tour in Spain.
Rizzo, who is Argentine, and Dernersissian, who is Venezuelan, draw from family life, work, marriage and the everyday pressures of adulthood to examine the contradictions and absurdities of being mothers, immigrants and comedians in their forties. The title riffs on the familiar promise of stepping out briefly for an errand and hints at the appeal of temporarily escaping routine.
The 75-minute performance is presented without intermission and is open to ages 18 and older.
