Visitors can explore how international expositions once shaped collective dreams of the future in a new exhibition at The Wolfsonian–FIU.
World's Fairs: Visions of Tomorrow, on view from May 30, 2025 through February 22, 2026, examines the optimism and spectacle of 19th- and 20th-century world’s fairs. Drawn from The Wolfsonian’s collection, the exhibition features posters, books, souvenirs and early consumer technologies—including one of the first TVs—highlighting the architecture, innovation and global themes that captivated millions during moments of societal transformation.
The exhibition will culminate with a new video installation by contemporary artist Marco Brambilla. Opening in fall 2025, Approximations of Utopia envisions a digital world’s fair composed of iconic structures from expos throughout history.
Presented on the museum’s 7th floor, the exhibition is curated by Silvia Barisione and Frank Luca and made possible with support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
