Career Moments: Brought to You by Tourism with Roseline Bien-Aime

A stack of towels, a welcoming smile and the telltale sounds of pool goers splashing water. For Roseline Bien-Aime, the daughter of Haitian immigrants, her career journey to senior sales manager of the landmark Loews Miami Beach Hotel began as an interning pool attendant with these everyday resort sights and sounds that helped craft her special story and professional growth in Miami-Dade County’s tourism industry.
Finding Her Passion
Roseline took this internship as the first step on the career ladder that has led her all the way to senior sales manager 20 years later. “There’s a misconception that the hospitality industry is about housekeepers or owning your own restaurant, but there’s much more to it,” said Roseline. “I really wanted to be a doctor growing up, but ever since I joined the Academy of Hospitality & Tourism (AOHT) my sophomore year in high school, I fell in love with the industry and the traveling, sales and marketing side of it.”
It was the early 2000s and Roseline was a high school junior enrolled in the Miami-Dade County Public School’s AOHT, an educational program that gave students hospitality industry experience and skills. The program provided her with that foot in the door to become a frontline employee, but it was a scholarship through the Black Hospitality Initiative with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau that turned that introduction into a lifelong, fruitful career.
Today, Roseline's role as group manager in the West Coast market at the Loew’s property involves engaging with event planners and showcasing why her hotel, as well as Greater Miami and Miami Beach, are an ideal fit for hosting their meetings and conventions. Her day is filled with conversations and negotiations, always highlighting the unique attributes and advantages of choosing this vibrant destination for their events.
Fostering Client Relationships
Above and beyond securing bookings, she understands the importance of building strong relationships with her current clients. Roseline’s formula for success involves nurturing these connections and providing exceptional service which in turn leads to repeat business and a loyal client base. Her role involves traveling to develop new accounts and expanding her network to bring even more business to Greater Miami and Miami Beach.
While Roseline could pursue a career at properties throughout the country, she continues to make her mark here adding to the multicultural richness and appeal of our sub-tropical community with its radiant atmosphere and warm hospitality.
