An Evening of Songs and Stories With Patti Smith
Oct 09, 2026
Starting: 7:00 PM
Patti Smith pairs readings, reflections and live music in a program centered on her memoir Bread of Angels at the Adrienne Arsht Center. Presented Friday, October 9 with Books & Books and Miami Book Fair, the evening traces episodes from Smith’s life alongside songs connected to the experiences and influences that shaped her work.
In Bread of Angels, Smith writes about her postwar childhood, adolescence and emergence as a poet and songwriter, with figures such as Arthur Rimbaud and Bob Dylan among her early creative touchstones. The memoir follows her path toward albums including Horses, Easter and Wave, while also reflecting on family, grief, artistic freedom and the role of writing throughout her life.
The program offers a live counterpart to the book, combining storytelling with music from an artist whose career has moved between rock, poetry and literature for five decades. Each full-price ticket includes a copy of Bread of Angels.
