An Evening with Take 6: The Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra

Gospel, jazz, R&B and pop harmonies meet full orchestral color when Take 6 performs with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra at UM Gusman Concert Hall. The collaboration takes place Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26, as part of Frost Music Live’s 2026-2027 season, with performances at 7:30 p.m. both evenings.

Known for its intricate vocal arrangements and close-harmony singing, Take 6 has earned 10 Grammy Awards across a career that has helped expand the possibilities of contemporary a cappella performance. The ensemble’s sound draws from gospel roots while moving fluidly through jazz, R&B and pop.

For these concerts, Take 6’s vocal textures are paired with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, adding orchestral depth and new dimensions to the group’s arrangements.
