Becoming: Music of Search, Fracture and Self
Oct 03, 2026
Starting: 7:30 PM
Questions of identity, struggle and renewal shape an evening of 20th- and 21st-century chamber music performed by Ensemble Ibis at Newman Recital Hall. Presented Saturday, October 3, as part of Frost Music Live’s 2026-2027 season, the program is directed by Shawn Crouch and traces how contemporary composers have approached the search for self through sound.
At the center of the program is Try by Andrew Norman, Frost’s 2026 Distinguished Composer in Residence. Built around ideas of effort, failure and beginning again, the work brings a physical, restless energy to a concert centered on fracture, transformation and the process of becoming.
Ensemble Ibis, the Frost School of Music’s contemporary music ensemble, performs the program at the Knight Center for Music Innovation’s Newman Recital Hall.
