Violinist Benjamin Beilman and pianist Gloria Chien perform a dynamic chamber music program featuring César Franck’s Violin Sonata, a cornerstone of the violin repertoire known for its lyrical beauty and emotional depth.
Described by The New York Times as possessing “handsome technique, burnished sound and quiet confidence,” Beilman is an internationally recognized artist and winner of the 2010 Montréal International Musical Competition. He has performed with leading orchestras including the Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra and London Philharmonic, earning praise for his deep, rich tone and expressive interpretations. In 2022, he became one of the youngest faculty members appointed to the Curtis Institute of Music. He performs on the 1740 “Ysaÿe” Guarneri del Gesù violin.
Taiwanese-born pianist Gloria Chien made her orchestral debut with the Boston Symphony Orchestra at age 16 and has since been recognized by The Boston Globe as one of its Superior Pianists of the Year. She is Artistic Director of Chamber Music Northwest alongside her husband, violinist Soovin Kim, and received the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center’s Award for Extraordinary Service in 2021. Chien also founded the String Theory chamber music series in Chattanooga and previously directed the Chamber Music Institute at Music@Menlo.
Benjamin Beilman with Gloria Chien takes place Tuesday, November 18 at the Coral Gables Congregational United Church of Christ. The concert is presented by Friends of Chamber Music of Miami in collaboration with Coral Gables Congregational Church and with support from the City of Coral Gables.
