Beyond the Canvas: An Evening with Her Grace Syamarani Dasi

Art, mantra and devotional music come together in an evening exploring the role of creative practice within Bhakti yoga at the Marshall L. Davis, Sr. African Heritage Cultural Arts Center. Presented by Sacred Vedic Arts on Saturday, October 3, the program features an artist talk by Srimati Syamarani Dasi, followed by kirtan led by Vijay Krishna of the Kirtaniyas.

Syamarani Dasi, also known as Jadurani Didi, will discuss a six-decade practice that joins painting with spiritual devotion. Her work draws on Bhakti teachings and sacred mantras, with more than 300 paintings developed as visual expressions of that tradition. She is also the founder of Sacred Vedic Arts in Miami, where she presents exhibitions, workshops and community programs centered on devotional art.

The evening also includes group kirtan, a form of call-and-response chanting, with Vijay Krishna of the Kirtaniyas. Admission is free.
