Starting: 7:00 PM
An immersive, multimedia concert reimagines a landmark feminist text through contemporary music and visual design at the New World Center on Miami Beach.
BLUE Concert: The Yellow Wallpaper in Concert takes place Tuesday, April 7 at the New World Center on Miami Beach. Curated and performed by Fellows of the New World Symphony, the program draws inspiration from Charlotte Perkins Gilman’s The Yellow Wallpaper, tracing the psychological unraveling of its narrator through a fusion of sound, imagery and narrative atmosphere.
The concert features a curated selection of modern works by Clyne, Stravinsky and Widmann, alongside the world premiere of a new composition by Fernanda Aoki Navarro. Bespoke visuals accompany the music, guiding audiences through themes of confinement, perception and shifting realities, while offering a contemporary lens on Gilman’s enduring story.
The performance is presented as part of the New World Symphony’s BLUE program, which emphasizes experimentation, leadership and creative development among emerging musicians. Tickets are offered on a pay-what-you-wish basis, with proceeds supporting NWS Fellows.
