A Venezuelan-born prodigy praised for his expressive sound and technical mastery, Luis Urbina makes his solo debut in the Miami International Piano Festival’s Discovery Series. Known for performances that balance sensitivity with power, Urbina has collaborated with luminaries such as violinist Ida Haendel and soprano Eglise Gutiérrez, while also appearing in ensembles that span both jazz and classical traditions.
The 2026 Discovery Series: Luis Urbina takes place Saturday, December 6 at noon at The Wolfsonian–FIU. A longtime member of the Miami International Piano Festival community and now a faculty member of its academy, Urbina brings a distinctive artistry shaped by mentors including Kemal Gekic and Giselle Brodsky. His recital highlights the festival’s mission of showcasing extraordinary pianists at pivotal moments in their careers, offering audiences an opportunity to experience one of Miami’s most gifted young musicians in an intimate museum setting.
