weekly on Sunday, Saturday
Sat: 8:30 PM | Sun: 5:00 PM
A dystopian fable of art, freedom and power unfolds on stage as El Gran Circo Maravillas makes its world premiere at the Sandrell Rivers Theater. Written by acclaimed Cuban author Abilio Estévez, the play tells the story of a crumbling circus whose director announces its closure, though the troupe of acrobats, clowns and fortune tellers refuse to believe him.
Directed by José Manuel Domínguez with Micheline Calver, the production brings to life twelve vivid characters in a setting that balances humor, danger and tenderness beneath a decaying tent. Featuring an ensemble cast of leading Cuban theater artists and accompanied by a rich musical score, the work mirrors contemporary reality through imagery rooted in Afro-Caribbean traditions and symbolism.
El Gran Circo Maravillas runs on select dates from September 20–28, with performances in Spanish and English supertitles available on September 27 and 28.
