Expert Tour: Kachina Dolls and Spirituality in Native American Cultures

Kachina dolls offer a window into the spiritual traditions, storytelling and cultural practices of Native American communities in the American Southwest. The guided tour takes place Saturday, October 3, at the Lowe Art Museum, where docent Cathi Rivera will examine selected examples from the museum’s collection.

The one-hour program considers the figures not only as works of art but also as cultural and spiritual messengers that carry beliefs and traditions across generations. Through close looking and discussion, participants will explore how kachina dolls express connections between the physical and spiritual worlds and their continuing significance within Native American cultural life.
