Frost After Dark: Diego Melgar Movement Workshop Part I
Mar 04, 2026
From: 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Explore movement and live music in a collaborative workshop designed to spark creativity and shared expression at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU. The workshop takes place on Wednesday, March 4. Presented as part of the museum’s Frost After Dark series, Diego Melgar Movement Workshop Part 1 introduces MOVE, a communal improvisation experience open to participants of all backgrounds and skill levels. Led by composer and guitarist Diego Melgar, the session blends guided movement with live music, encouraging attendees to listen, respond and experiment at their own pace in a relaxed group setting. No prior dance or movement experience is required.
Guests are welcome to bring musical instruments, art supplies or works in progress, expanding the workshop into a multidisciplinary exchange. The program continues with Part II on March 11, featuring guest artist Smita Sen, whose practice explores the connections between movement, sculpture and technology and how the body holds memory and experience.
Admission is free. Funding for the initiative is provided by the Art Bridges Access for All program.
