Grease at Rooftop Cinema Club

A summer romance, 1950s rock ’n’ roll and high school nostalgia close out the holiday weekend with an outdoor screening in South Beach. Grease screens Sunday, September 6 at Rooftop Cinema Club South Beach, bringing the 1978 movie musical to the rooftop for a Labor Day weekend showing. Directed by Randal Kleiser, the film stars John Travolta as Danny Zuko and Olivia Newton-John as Sandy Olsson, former summer sweethearts who unexpectedly reunite at Rydell High.

Based on the stage musical by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, Grease pairs teen romance with doo-wop, rock ’n’ roll and dance numbers. The film’s soundtrack includes “Summer Nights,” “You’re the One That I Want,” “Greased Lightnin’” and “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” which was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song.
