Jazz Encounters: The Purple Project
Dec 12, 2025
Starting: 8:00 PM
A live performance at the WDNA Jazz Gallery brings a jazz-fusion reinterpretation of Prince’s music into an intimate setting, led by Latin Grammy-nominated pianist Martín Bejerano. The program highlights inventive arrangements that blend a rhythm section with orchestral textures, reimagining familiar material through a contemporary jazz lens.
The Purple Project takes place Friday, December 12. Joined by drummer Lucas Apostoleris, bassist Marty Quinn and vocalist Nicole Yarling, Bejerano leads a set drawn from the ensemble’s self-titled album, known for its layered instrumentation and energetic approach to Prince’s catalog. Seating is limited, with tickets available at member and general-admission rates; students may reserve complimentary tickets and are invited to participate in a post-concert jam session.
Presented as part of WDNA’s Jazz Encounters series, the event reflects the station’s ongoing commitment to live performance and community engagement. Appetizers from The Fish House and a donation bar accompany the evening in the station’s Jazz Gallery, offering attendees a close-up experience with artists connected to Miami’s jazz community.
