A hypnotic evening of gothic synth-pop awaits as one of the genre’s most enigmatic figures returns to Gramps Wynwood.
John Maus – Later Than You Think Tour stops in Miami on Sunday, October 12.
A baritone-voiced composer and performer celebrated for his vintage synthesizer soundscapes and medieval-inflected modes, John Maus blends 1980s goth-pop with post-punk intensity. His acclaimed albums, including We Must Become the Pitiless Censors of Ourselves and Screen Memories, meld deadpan lyricism, cavernous reverb and a sense of looming apocalypse into performances that are both immersive and cathartic. His live shows are often described as visceral and uncanny, with a stage presence likened to a “weird, synth blood transfusion.”
Since emerging in the late 2000s with collaborations alongside Ariel Pink, Maus has built a cult following drawn to his philosophical approach to pop and experimental performance.
This long-awaited set marks his first Miami appearance in six years, offering a rare chance to experience his surreal, reverb-drenched world live.
