Arthur Miller’s landmark drama comes to Westchester Cultural Arts Center in a Spanish-language production directed by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Nilo Cruz. La Muerte de un Viajante runs August 21-30, with Friday and Saturday performances at 8 p.m. and Sunday performances at 5 p.m. Presented by Arca Images and Miami-Dade County Auditorium, the production is part of a program marking the 250th anniversary of the United States through major works of American theater.
Translated and adapted by Alexa Kuve, with revision by Nilo Cruz, the production brings Death of a Salesman to contemporary Spanish-speaking audiences. Miller’s 1949 play follows Willy Loman and his family as questions of ambition, identity, failure and belonging expose the contradictions of the American Dream.
The production opens Arca Images’ two-part tribute to American theater, which continues in November with Edward Albee’s The Zoo Story. The series reflects the company’s focus on Spanish-language theater that engages classic texts through current, diverse perspectives.
