Legends on the Diamond: A Juneteenth Celebration

Dorsey Park’s baseball history anchors a Juneteenth gathering focused on remembrance, storytelling and community connection. Presented by Catalyst Miami, Legends on the Diamond: A Juneteenth Celebration takes place Friday, June 19 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the historic Overtown park. The event recognizes the site’s legacy as a Black-owned ballpark where Negro League teams once played, connecting the history of the diamond to Juneteenth themes of freedom and resilience.

The program includes a community kickball game, food, intergenerational storytelling and opportunities for neighbors to gather across ages. Visitors can also experience the restored Dorsey Park community mural, led by artist Alex Douyon with Urgent Inc. and ALOU Creative Arts for Wellness.

Hosted by the Catalyst Miami Overtown Community Champions, the event is presented in partnership with the Jewish Federation of Greater Miami, Temple Beth Sholom, Nana’s Restart and Ivory Tours. The celebration is open to children and adults of all ages.
