Malcolm X Jazz Suite
Feb 20, 2026
Starting: 8:00 PM
Experience an evening of musical storytelling as Terence Blanchard revisits one of his most influential works in a tribute to Malcolm X.
Malcolm X Jazz Suite will be performed on Friday, February 20 in the Knight Concert Hall at the Adrienne Arsht Center, as part of the Jazz Roots series. NEA Jazz Master Terence Blanchard is joined by his band, The E-Collective, and the Grammy Award–winning Turtle Island Quartet for this special performance marking the centennial of Malcolm X.
Originally composed for Spike Lee’s 1992 film Malcolm X, Blanchard’s score has evolved into a dynamic suite for quintet and strings that continues to resonate through his body of work. This expanded version blends jazz, classical and cinematic elements to honor the enduring legacy of the civil rights leader through sound.
Tickets go on sale to the public September 19.
