MOSAICO: Italian Code of a Timeless Art

From ancient craftsmanship to digital innovation, this exhibition traces the evolution of Italian mosaic art across more than two millennia.

MOSAICO: Italian Code of a Timeless Art, on view October 25 through February 22 at the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum FIU, presents an immersive multimedia journey through Italy’s mosaic tradition, spanning the 1,500-kilometer expanse from north to south. Organized into seven thematic stations, the exhibition explores motifs of mythology, geometry, and spirituality while showcasing the materials and methods that have defined the art form for centuries.

Alongside the digital experience, three rare mosaic artifacts, on view in the United States for the first time, offer a tangible link to the medium’s ancient origins. Produced by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, MOSAICO reveals how this enduring art form continues to inspire contemporary visual culture.
