Jan 11, 2026
From: 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM
An interactive afternoon of live music, dance and storytelling brings the cultural traditions of the Spanish Americas to life through period performance and audience participation.
Music & Dance from the Spanish Americas, presented by Orchestra Miami, takes place on Sunday, January 11 at Pinecrest Gardens. Created by New York–based Hispanic Culture Arts, the program explores musical and dance traditions from the 17th through 19th centuries, blending live musicians, dancers in period costume and narrated historical context.
The performance highlights a range of styles, including baroque dance from Spain and Mexico, the Cuban habanera of the 19th century and regional traditions from Peru and Mexico. Audience members are invited to participate in select activities, such as a castanet exercise, a Peruvian bird dance and basic steps from a Mexican shoe dance. The program runs approximately one hour and is designed for audiences of all ages, with an opportunity to meet the performers afterward and enjoy light refreshments.
