XXIX New Music Miami ISCM Festival: Esteban Ignacio Correa takes place at FIU Miami Beach Urban Studios on Miami Beach, featuring Chilean composer Esteban Ignacio Correa alongside double bassist Manuel Figueroa-Bolvarán as Ensamble Improvincia. Together, the duo presents an immersive concert shaped by the interaction of acoustic instruments and live electronics, emphasizing texture, gesture and real-time transformation.
Correa is an established concert composer with a catalog spanning orchestral, chamber, solo and theatrical works performed throughout Chile and internationally. His music is known for its expressive depth and refined approach to timbre and electronic sound design. Figueroa-Bolvarán, a Chilean double bass virtuoso, composer and educator, brings a wide-ranging performance background that includes premieres of new works, collaborations with major ensembles and appearances on award-winning recordings.
This concert is part of the XXIX New Music Miami ISCM Festival, a long-running series dedicated to presenting contemporary music in intimate settings. Each Wednesday program begins with a 7:00 p.m. conversation with guest composers, followed by a 7:30 p.m. performance.
Presented by the FIU Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts with support from the City of Miami Beach and partner institutions, the event is free and open to the public.
