PAMM Art Storytime: Color Without Rules
Feb 28, 2026
From: 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Color, storytelling and early creativity come together during this family-friendly edition of PAMM Art Storytime, inspired by the expressive, color-driven work of artist Sam Gilliam.
Designed for pre-K children and their caregivers, the program begins with a short, interactive museum experience that encourages close looking, imagination and early literacy through art. Families will then enjoy a reading of Black Is a Rainbow Color by Angela Joy, illustrated by Ekua Holmes, a picture book that celebrates identity, culture and the many meanings of color.
The experience concludes with a hands-on art activity where children and caregivers work together to create layered designs using a variety of materials, exploring color without rules while fostering creativity, connection and self-expression.
Art Storytime activities take place Saturday, September 28 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and are included with free museum admission for the day.
