Poetry at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum

Student poetry appears on street-style signs and a vintage-inspired split-flap display during an evening connecting literary work with railroad history. The gathering takes place Saturday, August 22 at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum. Presented by O, Miami, the event unveils a permanent Civic Publishing installation and launches the open call for the 2027 O, Miami Poetry Festival.

Created with project manager Nicole Espillat, Track It: Times & Lines uses the familiar mechanics of rail-station signage to display poems by Miami-Dade students and residents. The featured writing was gathered through O, Miami’s Sunroom poetry-in-schools program and from Gold Coast Railroad Museum patrons.

Visitors can also explore Crossing Bards, a project developed for the 2026 festival that places 14 student poems on signs throughout the museum grounds. Prospective 2027 festival participants may meet the O, Miami team and begin developing ideas for the upcoming open call.
