Royal Poinciana Fiesta Celebration and Art Unveiling
Jun 07, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
The vivid blooms of Miami-Dade County’s official tree provide the backdrop for an evening of scholarship presentations, garden tours and art at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. The celebration takes place Sunday, June 7 as part of the annual Royal Poinciana Fiesta, now in its 89th year. The long-running festival highlights the Royal Poinciana’s seasonal color while supporting students studying horticulture.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. with trolley tours of Fairchild, followed by refreshments at 7 p.m., including Royal Poinciana Punch. Presentations at 7:30 p.m. will recognize the 2026 Royal Poinciana Fiesta Queen and Court scholarship recipients, along with the Larry Schokman Book Award recipient. Poinciana cake will be served after the presentations.
The event also includes a special display of works by Miami-based landscape and interdisciplinary artist Magnus Sodamin, a New World School of the Arts graduate known for vibrant, nature-inspired imagery. Limited-edition Royal Poinciana Fiesta posters will be available for purchase after the unveiling.
Admission is free and open to the public, with guests asked to bring a dish to share or make a donation. New memberships in the Tropical Flowering Tree Society are encouraged. Guests should park and enter through Fairchild’s South Entrance on Old Cutler Road.
