SoundScape Cinema Series: Loving Vincent
Apr 22, 2026
Starting: 8:00 PM
A visually singular animated film transforms fine art into narrative cinema during an outdoor screening at SoundScape Park.
SoundScape Cinema Series: Loving Vincent takes place Wednesday, April 22 at SoundScape Park. Directed by Dorota Kobiela, the 2017 film tells the story of Vincent van Gogh through a groundbreaking technique in which every frame is hand-painted in oil. More than 65,000 individual paintings were created by a team of artists, animating the film entirely in van Gogh’s distinctive style while blending mystery, biography and art history.
The story unfolds as an investigation into the painter’s final days, weaving together interpretations of his life, relationships and unresolved death. Shot first as a live-action film and then painted over frame by frame, the result is a rare fusion of performance and visual art that situates storytelling directly within the medium of paint.
The screening is part of the City of Miami Beach’s SoundScape Cinema Series and begins at 8 p.m. Admission is free with no ticket required. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs for seating on the lawn and enjoy the film on the New World Center’s large-scale outdoor projection wall.
