UM Family Weekend: Academic Engagement

The Lowe Art Museum offers families a behind-the-scenes look at how students use the museum as part of their academic experience at the University of Miami. The Family Weekend program takes place Friday, September 25, with a guided exploration led by Tola Porter, the Lowe’s Assistant Director for Learning, Engagement and Technology.

The one-hour session highlights the museum’s interdisciplinary teaching initiatives and the ways works of art are incorporated into learning across different fields of study. Participants will also learn how gallery-based experiences support discussion, observation and student engagement beyond the traditional classroom.
