We Met at Miamibloco

Connect with fellow music lovers, dance to the pulse of live percussion and explore new social possibilities in a relaxed outdoor setting. This interactive evening blends samba rhythms, communal energy and conversation starters to create a space where strangers become friends—and maybe more.

We Met at Miamibloco takes place on Monday, May 12 at Magic 13 Brewing Co. in Little Haiti. The evening kicks off with a short samba dance lesson to help break the ice, followed by a high-energy open rehearsal by Bateria Saideira, Miamibloco’s 80-member samba percussion ensemble known for fusing Afro-Brazilian rhythms with Miami’s diasporic sounds. Special guests Guilherme and Gustavo Oliveira, mestres from the legendary Rio de Janeiro samba school Bateria Furiosa, will join for the night.

Beyond the music, the event includes structured paired conversations, a closing interactive percussion segment and an optional social signal system with wristbands indicating whether you’re open to friendship, love or a member of the LGBTQ community. Attendees can also enjoy two-for-one happy hour specials, Latin food favorites and a playful after-hours chess club in the beer garden.

Presented by We Met in Miami, a nonprofit focused on building community through the arts, and Miamibloco, a cultural organization dedicated to samba percussion education and performance. Admission is free.
