What's in Bloom at Vizcaya: A Behind the Scenes Guided Tour

Vizcaya’s flowering gardens take the focus during a guided tour led by horticulturist Ali Hennessey. The behind-the-scenes tour takes place Friday, August 7 at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens and highlights plant species currently in bloom across the estate. The program includes general admission to the museum and gardens.
Participants meet at the Admissions Booth before continuing through areas such as the shaded Forecourt, North Walk and Orchidarium, where tropical plants adapted to cooler, low-light conditions are featured. The route also includes views of Biscayne Bay from the East Terrace, with stops at the Secret Garden and Rose Garden to explore species suited to warmer, drier settings.
Hennessey, a Vizcaya horticulturist with a background in architectural studies, art history and historic gardens, will discuss plant care, garden maintenance and the evolving approach to horticulture at the estate. The tour is held rain or shine and is not recommended for children ages 5 and under.
