Wild Vizcaya: An Outdoor Science Lab for Families
Jan 15, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
An after-hours adventure invites families to explore Vizcaya’s gardens as a hands-on science lab, where nature, learning and discovery come together after sunset. Designed with children and caregivers in mind, the evening blends environmental education with creative activities that encourage curiosity about South Florida’s ecosystems.
Throughout the illuminated gardens, families can meet local scientists, educators and conservation organizations offering interactive experiences focused on nocturnal plants and animals. Activities include science-based artmaking led by Vizcaya’s education team, storytime and themed crafts with the Miami-Dade Public Library, and hands-on learning stations hosted by groups such as Miami Waterkeeper, Pelican Harbor Seabird Station, University of Miami Biology and Coral Restoration Foundation. Each child receives a flashlight at check-in, while supplies last, adding to the sense of exploration.
Wild Vizcaya: An Outdoor Science Lab for Families takes place Thursday, January 15 at Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. Food and beverages are available for purchase, ambient music plays throughout the grounds and advance registration is required. This program is part of Vizcaya’s family-focused after-hours offerings and is designed specifically for groups attending with children.
