Discover a place where everything blossoms into something beautiful.

Less than an hour south of Greater Miami & Miami Beach’s urban core, there’s another side of the destination: South Dade, Miami’s countryside. Stretching from Pinecrest all the way to the Redland, Homestead, Florida City and the edge of the Everglades, this rural enclave is the heart of Miami’s farming community.

When you visit, you’ll find acres of lychee groves, exotic fruit and vegetable farms, local produce stands and even a winery that produces wine from locally grown passion fruit, carambola, guava, avocado and mango – Schnebly Redland’s Winery & Brewery.

South Dade’s farmers have made an indelible impact on the destination as both an economic engine and as a resource for its MICHELIN-recognized dining scene. To honor their contributions, the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau is excited to debut the inaugural Miami-Dade Farmers Month, which will run from November 1-30, 2022.

All month long, special deals and experiences at South Dade farms and related businesses will give visitors ways to celebrate Miami’s farming community. The Berry Farm – which will offer $3 off admission tickets throughout November – has U-pick strawberry (beginning in December) and sunflower fields, hay rides, a local farmer’s market and award-winning BBQ. Take advantage of reduced-price admission to Pinto’s Farm, where you can enjoy Sunday morning goat yoga, feed the animals in the petting zoo, ride a tractor or take a paddle boat out on the farm’s man-made lake.

Explore popular South Dade attractions such as the Fruit & Spice Park and Knaus Berry Farm. Then, for a sweet taste of Miami’s countryside, stop by Robert Is Here, a fruit stand that has been a Homestead staple since 1959, and order a milkshake made with tropical fruits such as mamey or dragon fruit.

You can find an array of beautiful wedding venues in South Dade featuring manicured gardens, rustic barns, charming cottages, waterfront vistas and more. The Thalatta Estate is a popular waterfront event venue with Cuban-tiled floors and a spectacular grand staircase. Discover a rustic wonderland in a grove of lush lychee trees at Hacienda Los Robles and tie the knot in their whimsical 4,200 square foot air-conditioned barn. If you are looking for more of a fairytale feel, The Cooper Estate and the Historic Walton House are two venues right out of a fantasy, with incredible outdoor spaces, waterfalls, luscious ponds and more.

Bite into a piece of tropical fruit that’s a color, texture, taste or smell you’ve never tried before. Say the names aloud as you browse them in a supermarket, farmers market or specialty shop. They're often fun words that originate in Brazil, the Yucatan or Caribbean.
