Spoil Dad with These Father’s Day Ideas in Miami

Dad. Father. Pops. Old man. Whatever you call him, it’s time to celebrate the man who gave you life. This Father’s Day, we’ve rounded up some ideas on how to spend some quality time in Miami with your dad, tailor-made for his personality.

Reel Him In

Want to be able to share a giant fish tale that you’ll always remember? If your pops is an angler, reserve a spot on the Deering Estate’s Father’s Day Fishing Charter Cruise on Sunday, June 21, 2020. Climb aboard the Pelican Island Skipper, a 45-foot catamaran, to embark on a three-hour fishing trip in Biscayne Bay. The Deering Estate naturalists will point out sea birds and marine life on the way and help the group with baiting their lines. They’ll supply the bait, but you’ll need to bring your own rods and tackle.

Need for Speed

Admit it — a need for speed runs in the family, and dad can get behind the wheel of the car of his dreams at the Homestead Miami Speedway. Thanks to Miami Exotic Auto Racing, you can take a spin on the track in exotic cars like a Ferrari or Lamborghini on Father’s Day. The course is closed, so drivers can reach speeds of more than 140 miles-per-hour with the help of experienced race car drivers. Best gift ever.

Brewery Crawl

If your dad loves craft beer, Miami has you covered with enough breweries for a day-long crawl. Wynwood has a cluster of great breweries, and you can sip a cold one (or two) at family-owned Wynwood Brewing Company, Veza Sur, J. Wakefield Brewing, and Concrete Beach. If you need structure, hop on the Wynwood Brewery Tour with Cycle Party.

Throw a Tee Party

Dad probably complains that he never has a chance to hit the links, so spoil him with a day of driving him around on a golf cart at the The Biltmore iconic golf course. You could also spring for a lesson at The Jim McLean Golf School, if you think dad needs to brush up on his game. If you really want to spoil him, plan your day around the hotel’s lavish Sunday brunch at Fontana’s.

Act Like a Kid!

There’s nothing like pretending to be a kid again, so let dad enjoy all the water slides at Tidal Cove Waterpark at JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa in Aventura. You can spend the entire day there, lazily floating down the lazy river or throttling down the numerous exhilarating water slides that will make you scream. There are plenty of places to post up in the sun and grab snacks or lunch. Dinner at buzzy on-property Bourbon Steak will also cap off a perfect day for dad.

Another exciting way to spend your weekend is at the new Punch Bowl Social in Wynwood, an “eatertainment” concept where you’ll team up to revel in endless gaming options. Let dad win at games like bowling, darts, table tennis, board games or have a “sing-off” in private karaoke rooms. It doesn’t hurt that the menu was created by a James Beard Award-winning chef.

Brunch Bunch

Miami knows how to do brunch and there’s something for every palate. If you want to splurge, treat dad to the over-the-top, buffet-style brunch at Jaya at The Setai, with rows and rows of international food stations and live jazz; or Zuma at the Epic Hotel still plays host to one of the best Japanese brunches in town with loads of exotic sushi rolls, noodles and dishes from the robata grill. Meat lovers will want to head to Edge Steak & Bar at the swanky Four Seasons for an array of brunch stations and bottomless beverages. In addition to stations like a raw bar and specialty barbeque, there’s even a station dedicated to the trendy avocado toast. Another brunch bright spot is La Mar at the Mandarin Oriental, where you’ll feast on creative Peruvian-inspired dishes while soaking up water views. For something out of the norm, head to the Fruit and Spice Park in Homestead for the Redland Summer Fruit Festival on Father’s Day weekend, which showcases the best of what grows on our trees. You’ll sip local wines, sample rare fruits and the whole family can enjoy pony rides and even crush a watermelon-eating contest.

Dad does so much for you, show him a weekend that he’ll never forget.
