Truly a hideaway in South Beach, Ted’s Hideaway is a classic low-lit dive bar that’s perfect for those moments when you feel like you need to just get away. Unpretentious with major come-as-you-are vibes, it serves classic bar food – think nachos, burgers and wings – and ice-cold beer. The bar is covered in graffiti and has an extra bonus: There are two (yes, two) happy hours a day.

The Legendary 21-Hour Dive Bar

Mac’s Club Deuce

222 14th St., Miami Beach, FL 33139

The oldest and easily the most well-known bar in South Beach, Mac’s Club Deuce has been around since 1926. Filled with a constant rotation of locals, celebrities and tourists. The smoke-filled, cash-only bar is open 21 hours a day, and its legendary happy hour runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with two-for-one drinks. The iconic neon lights that jazz up the bar were gifts from an infamous “Miami Vice” wrap party that owner Mac said could be hung for the party as long as he could keep them. And he did. Whether you’re controlling the jukebox, playing a round of pool or just chatting it up at the bar, it’s easy to see why this was one of Anthony Bourdain’s favorite bars. If hunger strikes, pop over to La Sandwicherie across the street and bring your sandwich to your bar stool.

For nearly 40 years, the family-owned Mike's at Venetia has been one of Miami’s best hidden gems. Tucked into the ninth floor of an Edgewater condo building near Downtown Miami, it’s the kind of spot you’ll feel thankful to have on your radar. Those looking for a cold beverage will immediately fall in love with the long list of options and friendly bar staff. The fully housemade menu boasts way more than just basic bar food. You’ll find pizzas, rib eye steaks, pastas and more. Tons of televisions, a pool table, board games and the views of Biscayne Bay make this a must-visit spot for dive bar lovers.

It may be easy to miss on the edge of Española Way, but Lost Weekend is a dive bar unlike any other. With a name that alludes to John Lennon’s “Lost Weekend” period in the 1970s, this local spot attracts hipsters and locals alike with its 1980s video games and $3.50 well drinks during happy hour, 4 to 8 p.m. daily. Plus, ladies drink free every Wednesday from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Pop next door to its sister bar, Kill Your Idol, for a double-shot dive bar night.

The North Beach neighborhood dive bar On The Rocks is a favorite among those who know and value what makes a great dive bar. There’s a jukebox, and local bands often play classic rock ‘n’ roll.

Bob's Your Uncle is Normandy Isles' go-to spot for a laid-back bar where everyone treats you like family. Unlike many dive bars, it has a deliciously creative cocktail menu along with a full bar. Several beers and ciders are also on tap, but the real treat is the daily selection of Jell-O shots. The bar itself is decorated with photos of famous Bobs throughout history – from De Niro to Saget – and there’s an ample selection of board games to play while you hang.

Hole In The Wall Pub in Palmetto Bay definitely lives up to its name. A hot spot for beer lovers and locals, its chill vibes make it a popular place to cheer on your favorite football team. Adding to the bar’s allure, it serves up delicious chargrilled garlic chicken wings and tacos and delightfully messy burgers, and Pabst Blue Ribbon is on tap for just $1.50 a pint.

Around since the 1960s, Keg South is a back alleyway dive that’s been a mainstay for Pinecrest locals for decades. The menu features delicious burgers, mouthwatering wings and inexpensive beer, and the bar’s regulars are always up for a conversation. Since Keg South doesn’t have an outdoor sign, you have to be in the know to find it. A cozy spot, it has only a few tables and bar stools plus an outdoor patio.
