Spend the day exploring Hialeah’s art and culture scene

Home to the nation’s highest percentage of Cuban and Cuban-American residents, Hialeah’s culture is driven by its international roots. A network of powerful artists, musicians and art enthusiasts have risen from this city to share their stories, creating a burgeoning arts district in Hialeah that many never expected.

Leah Arts District

The brainchild of Councilman Paul Hernandez (who, at 23, became the youngest official to be elected to office in Hialeah), the Leah Arts District is the city’s very own living/work space for artists. The area is designed to promote arts and culture in Hialeah and to give local artists a place to meet, exchange ideas and put their latest art on display. The district was a hub of production and manufacturing in the 1980s. Eventually falling into abandonment, this once-neglected neighborhood is now a haven of thrift stores, antique shops, artsy soirées, block parties, workshops, live music and performances, and 30+ wall murals. The Leah Arts District is a whole neighborhood unto itself, spread over multiple blocks.
