The acclaimed Detroit Symphony Orchestra, known for its trailblazing performances and collaborations with the classical world's foremost artists, is set to perform at the Arsht Center on Thursday, February 15, as part of the 2023-2024 Knight Masterworks Season. Guest soloist and cello superstar Alisa Weilerstein will bring Elgar's emotional Cello Concerto to life. A favorite piece in the cello repertory, Elgar’s masterpiece premiered just over 100 years ago, and is now a pop culture hit featured on the soundtrack of Cate Blanchett’s award-winning film Tár.
Under the baton of music director Jader Bignamini, the symphony will perform a program of captivating works that also includes Emerge by Pulitzer Prize winning composer Michael Abels and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade.
