In celebration of Earth Day, the Doral Contemporary Art Museum (DORCAM) invites art enthusiasts and nature lovers alike to immerse themselves in the exhibition titled Earthbound. Curated by Angela Chaine, this thought-provoking showcase debuts on Saturday, April 20, at 2 p.m. and will remain on view until Saturday, May 18, at DORCAM’s location in Suite 115 at CityPlace Doral. Prior to the public opening, a VIP Preview will take place on Thursday, April 18, from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
Earthbound delves into the intersection of art and nature, drawing inspiration directly from the natural world. As visitors explore the works of Florida-based artists, they’ll encounter reflections on our inherent connection to ancestral lands and the surrounding fauna. Against the backdrop of South Florida’s unique beauty, the exhibition sheds light on vulnerability and resilience, emphasizing nature’s ongoing efforts to thrive and nurture life despite adversity.
The featured artists - John Bailly, Roxana Barba, Jennifer Basile, Andrés Cabrera, Mariana Espindola, Cristina Lei Rodriguez, Claudio Marcotulli, Pseudomero, Lissette Schaeffler, Bill Cruz, Gretchen Scharnagl, Alejandro Valencia and Mirele Volkart - invite viewers to contemplate different notions of nature and consider the urgent implications of environmental crises. Through diverse techniques, styles and mediums, they create a dialogue that transcends artistic boundaries.
Earthbound is free and open to the public during regular DORCAM hours.
