Deepen your understanding of neurodiversity. Miami Dade College's West Campus Library Doral will be hosting the Neurodiversity Summit 2024 on Sunday, April 13. This free event aims to promote awareness, acceptance and understanding of neurodiversity through panels featuring professionals, advocates and organizations from various fields.
The summit will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Throughout the day, attendees can participate in a series of informative sessions, including:
- Advocacy & Policy Panel: Hear from local leaders like Councilman Christian Cevallos and Commissioner Raquel Regalado discuss policy and advocacy efforts related to neurodiversity.
- Neurodiversity and Mental Health: Gain insights on mental health from Dr. Maria Granados (Pediatrics), Dr. Grettel Martinez (Clinical Psychologist) and Lori Loredo.
- Therapy & Neurodiversity: Explore different therapeutic approaches for individuals with neurodiverse conditions with Alexa Marsellos (Music Therapy), Zaira Duarte (ABA Therapy) and Dr. Ross Marinas (ABA).
- Empowering Mom Panel: Connect with mothers of neurodiverse children as Claudia Valdez, Marlene Soto, Fabiola Angulo and Rosina Penaranda share their experiences and offer support.
- Educational Panel: Learn about innovative educational resources with presentations from Movia Robotics' Timothy Gifford, Dr. Fred Hicks from the Early Learning Coalition and music pianist Patricia Logrono.
