WALLCAST Concert: The Soundworld of Mary Lou Williams

Entering its third consecutive year, New World Symphony’s I Dream A World festival returns to Miami from February 4 to 25, 2024, featuring a series of programs dedicated to honoring the life and contributions of the 'first lady of jazz,' the legendary pianist and composer Mary Lou Williams. The festival concludes with an orchestral program, featuring the world premiere of a recently discovered composition by Mary Lou Williams, titled "History: A Wind Symphony." The program also includes excerpts from Mary Lou Williams’ 'Zodiac Suite,' 'Mass,' and various songs. Guest conductor Andrew Grams and NWS Fellows will be joined by Grammy-nominated jazz singer Carmen Lundy, pianist Aaron Diehl alongside his acclaimed jazz trio, Ambassador Chorale of Florida Memorial University and the Jazz Vocal Ensemble of Florida International University.
This free WALLCAST concert will be broadcast straight from the stage in a larger-than-life format. Bring a blanket and lawn chairs to settle in on the lawn and enjoy the show.
