It all started some 30 years ago. The Florida District of Kiwanis International sought to organize a Kiwanis Club that would develop projects to benefit the growing Hispanic population in Miami. On September 16, 1975, the Little Havana Chapter of Kiwanis was formed by 25 friends who shared a common bond and interest. From its beginnings, the Club, composed mainly of Cuban-Americans, were committed to the community. It is the oldest, Latin, continuous-meeting Club in the United States. Later, the Kiwanis of Little Havana Foundation was established in 1987 as a 501 (c) (3) organization.
